3D type experiment using cut out letters made from foam board. Looking at what effects distortion and unusual positioning can have on the recognisability of letterforms.

Sound waves

Drawing used in a stop motion animation. The idea was to use a typographical reperesentation of the words pronounced in the shape of their matching sound wave when recorded.
Character of characters

Planning and development of one part of a short animation. The idea was to give letters their own personality and human characteristics based on concrete elements such as their history, use in language, visual shape, etc.
Light layers

Little experiment created by layers of linoleum cut-outs printed onto translucent paper and held in front of a light source.
The typographic arrangement of the letters is based on a visual representation of their phonetic characteristics, such as emphasis and stress.

Part of a triptych project based on icons. The idea invovled using familiar symbols combined with humour to enhance a message. Final shown here is acrylic paint and pen on foam board.
